Join us as Judge Emmett gives us the inside story on Ike,
the evacuation and “hunkering down” in Harris County!
Little did we know that Judge Emmett's use of the phrase
"hunker down Houston" during the Hurricane Ike crisis
would spark a media frenzy. But today, everyone's saying it,
from local TV reporters to the guys on CNN and
The Weather Channel.  His calm demeanor and forthright talk
made the people of Houston, Galveston, and surrounding areas
understand the gravity of the impending hurricane, enough to
seriously get “hunkered down” in preparation for it.

Unanimously appointed County Judge by
Harris County Commissioners Court on March 6, 2007,
Edward M. Emmett was then kept in this office as
the voters gave him their “vote of confidence for a job well done”
this last November, in the face of a Democratic down-vote election.
Judge Emmett’s proven track record of public service
also includes: member of Texas House of Representatives,
appointment to the Interstate Commerce Commission by
George H. Bush and member of numerous boards and commissions.
